The Thief River Falls, Minnesota, community is remembering Randy Wright, a longtime resident, devoted father, proud grandfather and hardworking businessman who passed away peacefully at his home on September 13, 2026, at the age of 67.
Randy’s passing has left a deep sense of loss among his family, friends and the many people who shared different chapters of his life. He will be remembered for his strong connection to family, his practical skills, his love of motorcycles and his enthusiasm for outdoor activities.
Born on September 19, 1958, in Litchfield, Minnesota, Randy was the son of Valentine Edward Wright and Janice Ardith Nething Wright. He was baptized at Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Litchfield. During his childhood, his family spent time in Montana, where he attended Central Heights Elementary School in Billings, before returning to Minnesota.
He continued his education at Melrose High School and graduated in 1976. Following high school, Randy served in the Minnesota National Guard, an experience that formed part of his early adult years.
Career and Business
Randy spent much of his working life in trucking and heavy equipment operation. Through years of experience, he developed practical knowledge and skills that eventually helped him establish his own business, Wright Construction.
As a business owner, he took pride in his work and built a career around determination, independence and dedication. He was also remembered as someone willing to lend a helping hand when others needed assistance.
Motorcycles, Outdoor Activities and Friendships
Outside work, Randy found enjoyment in activities that brought him outdoors and closer to the people he cared about. He had a particular passion for motorcycle riding and enjoyed hunting, spending time at Pine Lake and gathering with family and friends around bonfires.
He especially enjoyed entertaining his children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Outdoor adventures and motor-powered toys often provided opportunities for fun and memorable family moments.
Randy also enjoyed Ranger rides with his beloved dog, Bear, who remained a faithful companion. These everyday experiences reflected the things he valued most: companionship, family time and the freedom to enjoy the outdoors.
His connections extended into the wider community through his associations with ABATE, the Eagles and the Patriot Guard. These organisations offered opportunities to share interests, build friendships and maintain relationships with people who appreciated similar activities and values.
